WOMEN and BOOKS
Private View THURSDAY 3 March 8 – 10pm
27 February – 26 March 2011
This week the selection panel met to chose the work for the show. Artists, Nicky Hirst and Sarah Sparkes (Curator) and Lily Harris, Head of Development at Dulwich Picture Gallery were impressed by the quality of work submitted. And they were enthusiastic about the theme in the context of a library.
Libraries are now under threat, so regular shows at Dulwich Library are especially timely. The panel like the idea of accompanying text as they felt it further enhanced the connection between visual art and the written word.
We will be emailing out to you the flyer and private view invitation soon. Please be sure to send it to all your contacts!
This is a special show! It not only actively supports libraries under threat, it also coincides with the celebrations for the centenary of International Women’s Day by celebrating the wonderful and diverse talent of women artists in South London!
There will be tours on Wednesdays 2 and 16 March at 3.30pm which will include talks by some of the exhibiting artists, and also visits for schools each Tuesday and Wednesday 1.30- 3.30pm.
If you would like to participate contact Ilinca info@ilinca.co.uk, Jackie jackiekbrown20a@gmail.com

Submissions for the Dulwich Library show
The 4th exhibition of work by SLWA at Dulwich Library is to run from Sunday 31st October – Saturday 27th November.
Following on from our success at Bankside this exhibition is a good way to keep up the momentum and the profile of our artists in a space that is fast establishing itself as a venue to view and buy small original artworks.
The library is a well used resource centre and the exhibition will be seen by large numbers of people during the month of November.
The previous shows have sold well and there have been several ‘after show sales’ proving that keeping our work in the public eye is important and effective for us as a group and as individuals.
Cost: No submission fee. £7.00 if work accepted. 10% commission on sales.
Download the entry form here: Dulwich Library submissions form
We are continuing our education work with local schools, organising visits so that pupils can meet the artists, be inspired and enhance their curriculum studies, further raising our profile with parents and in the community. See the end of this note for how to get involved.
