Studio Space

Hello fellow SLWA members I am passing on information regarding an opportunity to apply for a very cheap studio space at the Lewisham ARthouse in Lewisham Way, South East London. The Lewisham ARthouse, where I have my studio , is an artist’s cooperative and the waiting time for a space has previously been 5 years or more. We recently decided change the selection procedure and now studio’s will be allocated on the strength of the application and an interview. The space available is light and spacious, although the arthouse is an old building (formally a Carniege Library) and can get cold in winter. The deadline for application is 9th October. All details for application, together with further information about the ARthouse can be found on http://www.lewishamarthouse.co.uk. You are very welcome to pass the information on to anyone who you think might be interested

Come see us at the open studios with the ARthouse’s involvement in this year’s Deptford X festival. I am showing an installation as well as paintings and this year is particularly exciting as Mark Titchner will be using the front of the building to create a large scale installation. Natasha Rosling will be showing her installation ‘Ruffle’ in the Gallery. Do come along and join us – it would also be a good opportunity to check out the studio space.

Best wishes, Sara Willett

This is part of the set for CATS, the musical, that has been touring the world for over 20 years. A new set is required to start touring in December, and we need lots of help to build it. All the “junk” is 3X life-size, and there is a huge variety of stuff to make: empty food wrappers and cartons, knitted socks, sewn shirts, undergarments, and gloves are amongst the items needed. Then it all needs attaching to the flats.

Items are paid piece-work, the faster you get at making them the more you stand to earn. I’ll supply materials and know-how – I’ve made it all before!

If you are interested in being part of this project, please let me know.
