CALLING, CALLING, CALLING,

Calling all South London Women Artists.

The education programme to coincide with the Women and Books exhibition at Dulwich Library is oversubscribed! We are in the unusual position of turning schools away or booking them in to workshops in November.

We desperately need artists to be involved in this. We will need 2 artists to deliver workshops in Dulwich schools on a Tuesday afternoon followed by a workshop at Dulwich library on Wednesday afternoon.

Artists are also needed to be at the library on the Wednesday afternoons to talk to the children about their work. This has been very successful in the past, the children love talking to a “real artist” and the artists enjoy the children’s refreshing responses.

The dates and times for the workshops would be;

Tuesday 1st and Wednesday 2nd March     1.30pm-3.30pm

Tuesday 8th and Wednesday 9th March     1.30pm-3.30pm

Tuesday 15th and Wednesday 16th March 1.30pm-3.30pm

Tuesday 22nd and Wednesday 23rd March 1.30pm-3.30pm

We also need volunteers to make sketchbooks. SLWA has all the materials we just need your time and patience!

Please contact Jackie Brown to register your interest jackiekbrown20a@gmail.com

Hello SLWArtists I’ve been running a program of visiting artists at Thomas’s School, which consists of workshops from artists based on their practice, followed by an exhibition at the school to which parents of the year group are invited. We would like to have 2 artists visit the school between now and Christmas, one before half term and one after. This is a great opportunity for professional development in a relaxed environment. The art department has a computer-linked flat screen to present your work to the class, and an excellent range of materials to use in a workshop. The artists so far have given a 10 minute talk about their work to the 4 classes of a year group, which was then followed by a 30-40 minute class where the children created work based on that artist’s practice. There are 2 art teachers present to assist. For the private view, the artist’s work is mounted in the Art Block alongside all the childrens’ work, and the parents of that year group are invited. If you are interested in participating in this program, please email me to discuss it. The first year group we would like to offer this to is Year 3, 7 – 8 year olds. I look forward to hearing from you. Liz — http://www.lizcharsley-jory.com
